Later sold to duke Rudolf IV of Habsburg. In 1485 the city of Solothurn bought the castle for strategic reasons. Indeed, in 1499 an attack of German troups in the battle of Dornach could be warded off. In 1798 the castle was conquered by French troups and the ruin served in the years to come as a quarry.
