First mentioned in 1239 as „Castrum Birseke superior“. Build by the nobles of Frohburg and sold 1245 to the Bishop of Basel. Given as a fief from 1245 to 1813 to the familiy of Reich. North view: The sister castle Birseck and the Goetheanum of the anthroposophical society.
