Burg RöttelnLörrach, Baden-Würtemberg (D)GPS coordinates: N 47°38.298, E 007°40.087, 420m above sea level Located 10km north-east of the city of Basel. First mentioned in 1102 and owned by the lord of Rötteln. Partially destroyed in 1356 by the Basel earthquake. Occupied during the Thirty Years War by both Swedish and Imperial forces. Destroyed in 1678 by French troops. The castle ruins were thereafter used as a quarry. Today the castle has been restored to reflect its condition in 1678.
